Two random questions

Still trying to find out why my explorer is rough at idle. New fuel pump, filter, etc. Plugs, wires, coil pack, tps, iac have all been replaced last few years. From what i can see there is no vacuum leak but i havnt had it prof. checked yet. Is that my best guess right now for it idling rough.

Also getting ready to replace rear shocks in the back. Not sure if its just how 2001 explorer sports look but the rear seams to sag down lower then the front. Leaf springs seems fine.. I saw that besides just sensa trac shocks that there is also a kit that is sensa trac shocks and springs over top of them to provide extra support. I know this might help the ride and suspension but doubt it help the sagging(if its just not my eyes playing tricks) Would a leaf spring support kit help a lil, i saw kits at auto places that help lift the rear 1-2 inches. Any help on either would be appreciated

For the rough idle look into some seafoam. How to vid below.

For the sagging in the back is definitely your leaf springs. The proper fix would be new leaf springs however you could get away with some lift shackles or maybe an AAL (add a leaf)

If my memory serves me right, don't the sports comes with a mono leaf spring in the back for some reason? Or is that a different model?

If it is the mono leaf pack, getting a regular set of leaf springs from a 4 door that has the mutli-leafs should help ride quality, and also possibly raise it some in teh back. But you might want to double check that.

As for the sea foam...i had the fuel system prof cleaned out already. So would it still be an option to try?

As for the leaf springs, im pretty sure its more then one leaf, im thinking of the shackles to be a quick fix.

Also, i saw that monroe makes shocks for the back that are sensatrack shocks but they also have springs wrapped around them almost like mini struts. Anyone hear of these and if so would they be worth the extra 20 bucks a shock?

PS, alot of ppl are saying about the lower intake gaskets being bad. I would really hope its something else but if it does sound like the symptoms id rather just fix it. I have had misfire issues in the past on one or two plugs but nothing too repeated. I know a ford dealership has taken it all apart at times but no idea if they replaced the gaskets.

The seafoam will clean the entire combustion chamber, not just the fuel system. You can put it in the fuel, but you can also pull it through the engine via the brake booster, do a search and you'll see a lot of threads.

Also- don't drive yourself crazy over idle smoothness- the Ex doesn't have a typical 'doesn't jiggle the water in the cup while sitting in the cupholder" idle like a Lexus. It's quietly vibratory at best it seems. Look up aldive's improving the idle quality thread...
