Ok I have noticed two things with my explorer since I have bought it. It now has 60k miles on it (1997 XLT) I think it's the pre-production 98 model though, if that makes sense to anyone..

Here's my deal... When i have like 2 or 3 people in the back seat of my car or I am carrying a large load of crap in the back compartment, all of my tires, when i hit a bump in the road, make a quick chirping noise. I honestly don't believe it's the tires squealing it sounds more like metal quickly rubbing against another metal piece and then the sound goes away. it ONLY happens when i have a lot of ppl in the car or If i'm alone and i hit a big enough bump.. has anyone ever had this noise and found a fix for it?

Also, when i brake at slow speeds my car makes this odd noise.. it's not very loud but it almost sounds like it's winding down. I think it may be warped rotors but my car dosen't shake at all or do anything else weird and the noise isnt loud at all, it just sounds like a slow wind down.. (not an engine noise) just something to do with the brakes.. has anyone had That problem?

Those are really the only two things that bother me.. I saw the post about the problems our trucks have with the Brakes but i haven't heard that noise yet in my car, and im hoping i dont anytime soon!

Maybe the "squealing" you are hearing is the leaf spings rubbing on each other. There might be some rust or junk between the springs themselves and they havent been "pressed" that far under normal condition.Add some wieght back there and they will travel beyond the normal use area's of the springs.
Or you are getting the squealing noise from some rubber bushings.they might be worn and once with the added wieght they are rubbing.
The winding down might just be your brakes.Maybe they are worn out and are just now starting to rub as they are applied.
Just to thoughts.
Goodluck :)

Does the pedal pulsate like warped rotors when they make the winding down sound? If so your wheel speed sensors proabably just need cleaned.

thanks for the replies, no the pedal dosent do anything, it's just a noise... i wish i could explain how it sounds... its just weird.. it dosent get any worse either it just makes the same noise.. secondly you're probably right with the leaf's but i noticed it does it in the front too.. not just the back and i thought only the back had leaf's.. and it's the same noise from front and back..

neat

Check the bushing that the sway bar runs through. If there is and slop they are shot. They are cheap and very easy to change, however.

thanks for the reply but i dont understand.. if they are slop they are shot? i think its a typo but im confused... please re-explain since it could be the problem.. thanks!

Yeah thats a typo. Its supposed to read "if there is any slop, they are shot" To check if its them you could spray them down with WD-40 and see if they don't squeak anymore.
