No Ex at the mo
Hi all hoping you can help
I need to know if the grey arches etc is the same on all exs.
Reason is i aquired a couple to replace some ropy ones on my ex but one of the replacements had some slight scuffing so i decided to repair and spray.
Got the code and got an aerosol made up and did the job.
Comparing the one i haven't sprayed with the one i had there is a distinct difference in shade. I can't even compare either of the 2 new ones with my old ones as they are still on the ex at the garage (back soon hopefully).
So if anyone has had experience matching up the arches then let me know.
Oh and my ex's code is RC - Medium Platinum Grey

On the plus side i discovered my abilities with an aerosol aren't half bad. Banksy watch out!!!
Thanks

Year to year there may be a difference in the darkness of the shade of color. Especially with auto body work its best to blend the paint into the existing panels.

the later ones are a darker shade... they changed shade slightly when they did the facelift...

your best bet is to take them all off and match them like that...

It's just still don't have the ex so was playing while waiting for her to return.
You have given me hope that the one i have done is the right shade as is slightly darker and mine is the 98. But this does mean the other one will be too light and therefore need spraying.
Thanks

hi there seems to be two different shades of gray the early exs with rear number plate to the left has a pinky /gray this is all so in the plastics on the bumpers. later had a darker gray all so in plastics on the bumper. but due to fade over the years any replacment parts may not be a exact match. cheers chris

I'm planning on eventually taking all mine off and spraying them black anyway, including the bumpers and the grey parts on the doors...

That had crossed my mind but as my ex is red i'm not sure it would look as good as it would on your black one.
Thoughts anyone??

give it a try in photoshop first!... or be really daring and change the contrast from Grey to something entirely different... I was thinking about doing my arches and stuff in Asbo orange...

Si

you can take the scouser out of liverpool...

No seriously
I had thought of the photoshop option to see if torreador red all over would look ok. I hadn't thought of a differrent colour, mmmmm......

It was just some random mental idea I had a few weeks ago... with some GT style stripes over the top... not sure though... I reckon black/orange would be good...

Si

I agree that black/orange would look good. Not sure about asbo orange but maybe something like Lamborgini Mettallic orange. Know a guy thats built a cool lifted landy and painted it LM orange and looks good with the black arches.
Can't think of anything that would look good with the red except white but white wouldn't work on the arches/lower half.
