All,

I've just joined this forum and hope to learn more about maintaining my relateively recently acquired 03 XLS. I am a life long devotee of the blue oval and they have served me remarkably well. I have wanted an Explorer for a very long time and finally got one in Dec 08 when my wife's 77 T-Bird which I had been driving finally died. And do I still love this SUV even after "the honeymoon period".

Anyway, For my summer tyres and wheels I am running Panther Groove 20 x9" wheels shod with Kumho Ecsta STX 275/45R20 rubber. (Road use only so these tyres work very well for me although there is a bit more road noise than I would have preferred.) Given the size I am running what are people recommending for tyre pressures? Right now I am running 35psi all round but it feels too hard but I don't want to go too soft and end up preferentially wearing the shoulders.

Thanks in advance.

Carl

I know the proper pressure is 35psi but I like mine at about 32.

idk about where you're from but when i had my 20s with low pros i didn't like running them soft at all. too many pot holes where i live

I have the same size tires and have about 35-38lbs in them(checked the other day:D) I think they ride pretty nice actually(nearly the same as stock). I was actually thinking of upping them to 45lbs to see the effect on gas milage. Your factory rating is 30F/35R, so I wouldn't go any lower than what you have. Maybe your shocks are taking a dive?

Welcome and please post some pics of said ride:D
