Heres what I Found under U-Haul Website under "Auto Transport User Guide" and here is the quote

“U-Haul does not allow any type of Sports Utility Vehicles not equipped with hard top, to tow an auto transport Trailer. Towing with vehicles not equipped with a hard top is no different than towing with a hard top vehicle. In an unlikely event of an accident, vehicles not equipped with hard top offers less crash and ejection protection than vehicles that have a hard top”

I guess that is what ya are talking about? Or is it the sport utility vehicles not allowed ON the auto transport tailer?

Say What???? I don't know how that applies.

Now that I have thier email I will be emailing them religiously

AJ,
You wanna make an email that can be posted on the site so all we have to do is copy and paste every day?

It would make it alot easier..

Had to send a fact finding email first so I will see what thier response is to my soft worded email.

I say we all rent jeep cherokee's and rent a u-haul and go roll them (make sure you have full coverage) :p

Gotta love that statement!!!!;)

I just went to U-haul's site, and they would allow a Mercury Mountaineer under the vehicle selector, but not a Ford Explorer. I wonder if I were to make a reservation if they would either give me a call to either confirm or deny my reservation or if I would have to wait until I go to get it before they deny my rental for a trailer to be pulled by a Mountaineer. I couldn't even select a current generation Explorer. Odd.

I remember Tire Rack letting me physically order, but then they either called to e-mailed me to let me know that I couldn't order for either the Explorer or Mountaineer.

Food for thought...

How many total explorers rolled over? (a few hundred maybe) Now how many 18 wheelers rolled over in just one year...(tons)... You don't see companies banning 18 wheelers from towing a trailer now do you...

I think U-haul could do more to harm my biz in this town then this would be worth :D I've done photography in the U-haul "towers" before for their annual report.

HEHE.........we need magnetic Mercury stickers to stick over the Explorer emblem. Then it becomes safe!!;)

Well ha I just tsted the system and I could make a reservation for a 93 Navajo. Maybe I will remove all my Explorer badging and put on Navajo badging.....stupid people

LOL, the photo was taken at Papago Park in Phoenix.

Oh boy this sucks, i use my explorer to tow all my demo derby cars to the track with uhal trailers. This really blows.

You guys think Expo5.0 could get away with it? With the mountaineer grille and everything?

Thats really dumb that they have an explorer pulling one of their trailors, but wont let you pull a trailor with an explorer!

I think I'll call my local U-Haul store, and see what their rules are.

I call BS.

Shane

If I had to I would put an escape badge on my truck and see what they say then. I would be like I dont' know what your talking about this is an excape.
