Under Hood Detail

Thanks 99exEB1......Got the link....it was still a little cold and way windy to be doing anything outside last weekend. Will try again next weekend.

Went thru a carwash with my pickup. Kind alike one of those ones from the old movie Carwash. Bunch of guys running powerwashers and handwashing and chamois dry. Under carriage gets powerwashed also. Still after all that my wheels look really nasty. Gonna have to get after that. We got that liquid de-icer crap they spray on roads around here during winter. Pretty corrosive I hear.

Why can't people learn to DRIVE on snow rather than acting like we are afraid of it using this crap to make it disappear. It all melts sooner or later anyhow.

Thanks again for the tips!

No prob for the link!:D
They have to de-ice becasue in this day and age with people being sue crazy if someone got into an accident, the city would have more denyablity if they did de-ice. Yeah it sucks! I know around here our winter just about ended, it was 67 today, according to the temp thing in the X, what about you whats the temp. like in your neck of the woods?

We're supposed to get up in the 40's today, with mountain snow and valley rain turning to snow this afternoon. Supposed to snow the rest of the week. It was 29 on the way in to work this morn.

My ski pass is good till the mountain closes so I guess I'll make good use of it. I hear that last Friday (beginning of Spring) was great at Big Sky Mountain. Nice temps and still a lot of snow. I asked about girls skiing in bikinis and he smiled and said "Yup!".

About the de-icer(magnesium chloride)....man it sure does a number on wheels.....whats some good stuff to neutralize or get rid of it? I was really shocked after I washed the Merc last week. Kind of got that sick in the stomach feeling.

try this http://waxdepot.safeshopper.com/65/315.htm?792 I have never used it yet but the mustang guys say it works great. Pep Boys by me used to sell it but not anymore so thats why I have not tried it yet. Going to order it and give it a shot.

I have found that if you spray, degrease at the car wash, careful not to hit the alternator, airfilter (coldair). Start your engine and let it idle while you dry the car, then shut'er down and spray the bay lightly with WD-40. This will displace any water that you may not want hiding out, and leave it nice and shiny. Next time you do it it will also displace the water once again so it doesn't get into anyplace bad if you know what I mean. I dad has been doing this for years and years. I don't think he had ever had a problem.
