Ok this is a picture of my battery, im gonna replace the wiring under my hood either later today or tommorow. I have all the 0 guage i could possible use. But what do i replace. in the picture the small negative wire is a ground, the larger one I dont know. I dont know where either positive wires go. Also the grounds seems to be smaller then the other, should i use 0 guage for everything or 0 guage for some and 4 for some I need help. i havent really looked yet, im just looking for info to speed along the process.

I recommend sticking to red for the positive and black for the negative when wiring batteries.

Good luck.....

wow that was informative, really not trying to be a smart as* but you didnt answer one question with that post. If that comment was about the blue 0 guage wire, that is for my 2 amps in the back, it has nothing to do with my underhood elctrical system.

I need help what wires should i replace to get the max output from my electrical system. Im going to be pushing 2400 watts i need to know what to replace.

I replaced my battery cable to the starter with 1/0 gauge, the cable to the chassis and engine block with 1/0 gauge, and the cable from the alternator back to the positive battery terminal with 1/0 gauge. Then for those smaller wires that came off of the stock terminals to accessory stuff like the starter solenoid (wires that were already about 12-10 gauge), I replaced them with 8 gauge. I have a '94, so I can't really tell you where they go specifically. But the positive terminal should have two wires that go to the starter and one to the solenoid, and the negative terminal should have one wire that goes to both the chassis and engine, and (on mine) two that go to a ring terminal bolted to the side of the engine compartment.

Hmm...well you weren't tryin to be a smart ass to aldive so I'm not tryin to be a smart ass to you. Look at the wires see what kind they are , get one size bigger wire to replace each wire.... you should be able to tell what size wire it is by looking at it.

ok im sorry, but i thought it was alittle funny use red for positive and black for negative. I would think that would be a given.:D

i have a suggestion for u......u can take it or leave it the best thing u could probablydo to get the most power is get a farad cap or get a bigger alternator built. here in york u can get a 150 amp alternator built for like 200 bucks that will push alot of watts and not dim ur lights or battery budget. maybe this helps maybe it doesnt... godd luck...

Definitely. If you are going to be pushing that many watts, you'll need one or both of what KIDSX mentioned. My system will be 2300-2400 watts, and I have got 1/0 gauge wiring, a 200 amp alternator from mralternator.com, and a 3 farad capacitor. That should take care of any power problems! :D

Yeah thats what my plan is, im getting my subs hopefully the begining of next week. Im going cray i can wait anymore. I got the amp installed all working. If there is major dimming then im gonna order myself an alternator from www.mralternator.com.

B94Sport: how do you like you alternator. Ive heard they have low output during idle. Is it true but for there price i think i can deal with it. You got any pictures of you system i would love to see.
