99 Eddie Bauer
I just purchase a 99 Eddie Bauer yesterday. Last night I ran into a rather disturbing realization. The keys we recieived with the truck do not unlock the doors. We received 1 key fob and 2 keys. Both keys start the truck, but will not unlock the doors. Does this make since? How do I go about getting keys that will unlock my truck? Unfortunately I found this out when I was 50 miles from my wife with the key fob. This made the evening a bit more interesting.

Apparently this happens all the time. Since anyone with the keyless entry rarely uses the key to open the doors, the locks will actually rust closed. Try squirting some WD-40 into the key hole and then turning the key back and forth. That should fix the problem.

Thank you , Thank you, Thank you, and again Thank you. You can't imagine the frustration you just solved.

You may also want to go to eBay, and pick up an extra key fob. They are very common, and fairly inexpensive. Once you get an extra they are also easy to program to your "X". Also with you 99 EB don't you have the touch pad system on the drivers door, makes it hard to lock yourself out with it !! ............."pear"

Don't forget to do the hatch lock also.

Speaking of the touchpad, how do I go about finding out the code, or better yet reprogramming it. Not knowing anything about it, I would guess there is a reset or a specific fuse to pull. I haven't made it that far in the owners manual yet.

The code can be seen by removing the jack cover on the drivers side in the cargo area. There is a black box at the very front of that opening. With some contorting and pulling of the plastic, you'll be able to find the 5 digit code. This is the master code. It cannot be changed, don't give it out! there are ways to program other codes into it.

could it be someone replaced the door locks with an aftermarket lock and didnt give up the keys to the dealer? or did ya already fix the problem?

It is also possible that the ignition switch was replaced and the keys you got are for it and not the OEM door locks.

Section525 solved my issue. Thanks for the ideas.

same thing happened to me on my '94
