Awhile ago I asked about upgrading with a new sub. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208758

After the responses I got I decided to go with the a Clarion 10" sub powered by the Blaupunkt PCA 2120. I had last week off from school so I built a .5 cubic foot box(the size recommended) and installed everything. And now I have a few questions about it.

1. I have an alpine CDE-9852 head unit and I have the sub woofer option all the way up. It sounds a hundred times better than what I had, but in order to really make the sub kick I have to turn up the bass option on the head unit. When I do this the sub gets really loud but the 6x8's distort. I don't think there is an option on the head unit to forward all bass to the sub, so I was wondering if I should get a bass blocker or wait an get an amp that will block it.

2. If I get a bass blocker is it easy to hook up?

3. I already have two Pioneer Ts-A6881R and was think about getting 2 more and a 4 channel amp. I was thinking of getting this one because it matches the one I have and meets the needs of what I am looking at. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00104ZKK0/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A2EBKGKF3J2YXR&v=glance
If I get that and hook it up will I still need a bass blocker?

4. Last question for now. On the back of my head unit I have an RCA output which I ran to the amp for the sub. If I get a 4-channel amp and plug in the RCA will I still have the front/back option as well as the left/right option?

Thanks in advance for any help.:)

Wow... this is pretty interesting. So the sub shares an output with a set of speakers?

1. Yes
2. Very easy. You just wire them inline.
3. No.
4. Left/Right= Yes, Front/Rear= No

No, the sub does not share an output with a set of speakers. He said when he turns the bass up it make the other speaker distort. Yes, when you turn up the bass from the hu it will boost bass to ALL speakers. That is why he needs to block the bass from the door speakers with bass blockers.

Maybe consider adjusting the Bass Boost on the amp before adding more bass with the head unit...?

I tried that but i cant tell much of a difference. For now I am going to get a high pass filter, and down the road get an amp when I get some more money.

Thanks for the help.
