Is this a gimmick, or does this actually help? I've been seeing them on Ebay lately? I remember reading somewhere that the longer runners produce more tourque, but never thought about a spacer. Its not too pricey either.

Guess a link would help!!

Drew and I were talking about this earlier. I recommended getting one. I had an inch spacer on my Explorer before the Eaton, and it did help. Jamest has it now...

How bad is it to install. Hell, I can afford $35 for a little power!!

Easy. You take the 5.0 plate off the top of the intake and remove all the bolts holding it to the lower intake. I believe you will have to remove the vacumm line off the from port on the intake also. Then RTV the gaskets to the spacer (do the top sides too) and set it on the lower intake. Set your upper on the spacer - making sure it lines up. Then replace the old bolts with the new ones that are longer. Tighten, torque, and replace the 5.0 plaque onto the upper intake. Taking your time - drink a beer - smoke a cigarette - it might take an hour....

you cant use it unless you get yor EGR tube lengthened or delete the EGR perminatly. I have the 1'' one on my truck and i noticed a differance

I forget about that damn EGR tube. Mine's a 97 (96 setup), so I don't have that problem.

Get Brian Herron to burn you a chip that disables the EGR system - then take it off. Does nothing but create CEL codes anyway... ;)

The EGR tube should be easy to lengthen...

God Dang EGR. I keep getting screwed over with the dang thing!!! What type of tube does it use? What did you do with yours? I would rather keep it on there just to keep it stock and crap.

Does anyone make a spacer similar to this for the V6 sohc?

I haven't played with that tube since I didn't have one - but a quick extension would be get rubber hose like a vacumm line that would fit over the end and run it up to the valve. Clamp it down...

I haven't seen one Al...

i got rid of mine, messed with a few vaccume lines and i only pull 1 code on my CEL at the moment. Wehn i get the money for a 4 program SCT i will get it burned to delete the code

yep, its been added to my list of mods

I think I'm gonna get it. That will be work for this winter. I want to smooth my upper intake out and paint it white(do they make hi-temp white?) and put that on. God do I love the 5.0! ;)

i also have that same plan for my upper intake.

yes they ahve gloss wihte. you should do it first and see how well it matches. vht makes it.

why not jump in with me and do some real performance stuff while your in there?

They large amount of debt hanging above my head and empty pockets will stop me from that ;)

All money now will be put into the motor. I want to be somewhere around 400HP by the time I'm out of college. I can't really see that happening, but I can wish!!!

i'm gonna be able to get to around that number... for peanuts relatively. check out my current project thread. I think it will probably be about 2k for what i'm doing now. Add 600 for exhaust, and intake stuff and you'd be same as me.

Have the intake(MAC) and in the Spring I think I'm going to spring for the Flowmaster Force II Cat back. I ain't getting anything done aorund here. No one knows how to do a good system. And one that will last. Last one lasted a year and a half and began to rot away. My dad only has 36k on his truck and the duals he had put on rotted out. So I'm just going to get an entire system to put on.

i'm almost done with college though, so i better get my butt in gear if i plan on meetingn your goal. Only about 8 more months.

My rough list:

Catback(will happen)
Plug in Tuner(no chip)
E cam
Stroker
There'll be more, can't think right now.
