I can't seem to find a thread here regarding recommended battery for 2001 sport trac.
I have to replace my battery, and where I am located, they are recommending A.C. Delco.
Any info on what exact type of AC Delco battery I should buy? The sales people here will try to get me to buy something more expensive than necessary (it's philippines...).
I need to replace it tomorrow, as the truck is really dying on me.
Pls help asap.
Thanks.

I am not sure, because i bought it used. The battery is motorcraft. Perhaps it's new, but i doubt it. Its 2001 model.

Do you think I can just trust the car parts supplier here to look up appropriate AC delco battery for the ST? I have never bought a battery before, and I plan to buy it at a parts store, not ford dealer, so I am a bit concerned. Its' tropics here, and I go way into provinces sometimes where there is no people for hours. Don't want to get stuck with a defective/deficient battery...

Maybe you are right. The previous owner was a miser, I found out by encountering many make-shift fixes here and there.
Booster pack. I never heard of that. I will check it out.
In the meantime, do you have any idea about AC Delco specific model I should get?

I have a choice to purchase Motocraft for about $200 at ford dealer, or AC Delco for about $150 at a parts supply shop. So trying to save a few bucks. $50 goes a long way here in Philippines for a retired guy like me :)

The vote...

hmm, it had interesting thing about exide scandal, but no info on ac delco....

It showed the favorites by vote... Optima is favored. I use DieHard.

Do you have a Sears store where you live? You could get the battery, and the booster pack there.

Unfortunately, availability of goods are poor here. And when available, prices are way higher than the U.S. for imported goods (even if its imported from china--china is closer to Philippines than U.S.--go figure).
Nope. No sears. Booster pack, I think I will have to look for it.

Johnny you just need to make sure the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) # is the same or higher and that the Negative and Positive posts are on the same side as the old battery. And that the new battery fits in the battery tray. Don't forget to make sure it's secured to the tray.

Ingat,
John
