2020 & 2025 Explorers
I moved my USB Drive from my 2020 to the new 2025 Explorer.
The 2025 doesn't recognize some of the music formats.
Many were WMA, but a few new albums were added recently, those were MP3 & M4A.
The 2025 recognizes the MP3 & M4A, but not the WMA; which is unfortunate since the majority of the music files were WMA.
Where can I find what file format the new Explorer will recognize?
Or is there a way to get the new Explorer to recognize a WMA format?

Looking at a 2025 and good to know about the MP3 file as that is what I have. You can convert the WMA to MP3.

Is it possible that the WMA files are DRM protected? If so then it may not play them, but if not then I second the suggestion to convert them. Get some freeware audio editor like Audacity, then batch convert a whole folder full of WMA files.

In Audacity, go to the Tools menu and then Apply Macro, then Palette.

There is a ready-made macro called MP3 Conversion. You get the option to apply the macro to either the current project or a collection of files.

The files option is the batch conversion you are looking for. Browse to the folder of files, select them all at once, click open, and it does them all in a row.

If you don't set what the output directory is, then puts them in your My Documents folder, for example C:\users\(your username\My Documents (or Documents)\Audacity\macro-output

More info:
Macros Palette | Audacity Support

There are simpler converters available, but if you know the process in Audacity, it can also be used for so much more.

I found a Burner program that burns as an MP3 file and has a function to convert files to MP3. Reworked the USB drive and all is well.
Thanks
