Just wondering as to how I should be loading music files onto a USB stick for us in my explorer.

Is there anything special I should be doing? I loaded a bunch of albums on today, I put them in there own directories on the USB stick. Now they play in the car but not in any logical order (shuffle is not on)

Is having them in directories causing this?

That's probably the problem.
I would just copy them all to the root of the USB stick without directories. That way, it's right there, without having to search through things.

When I load mine on, I have different folders.

genre>artist>songs

folders within folders. Works fine for me. But it depends on the head unit as well. I know when i took it out of my kenwood and loaded on my friends deck it played them randomly without access to folders.

Shaggy,
you can edit the properties of the files to have it play in order, just like in the album or in order you arrange them.

Unfortunately, I am at work and cannot post the pics on how you would do it, but you can check this link(SFW)>>http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=63200

You can do this file by file or you can highlight the tracks that belongs to the same album, right click, go to summary, enter the artist's name>Album Name>Track Number.

Your music should play by album and track, whether you put it in a subfolder or not.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try renaming the tracks more logically and see what happens :)

Should my unit In The explorer also allow me to see a tree view of folders if I select USB as the device ?

I'm not 100%, but It should depend on the headunit on how it will display the folders.
