Hello

I was wondering if anyone has a list of everything they would do to a explorer that they just purchased used. Like flush rad, transmission, plugs, filters etc. Thanks for any list. I have no records with this x so I do not know how recent anything was done or not done.

This list has been done before.

On the list for me:
All fluids
- Radiator
- Engine oil
- Transmision
- Front Diff
- Rear Diff
- Transfer Case
- Brake Fluid (yes, it wicks moisture over the years)
All filters - Air, oil, fuel.
- I added a duel by-pass oil filter (look it up, well worth the money)
- I added a Transmission filter - super easy while your changing the fluid
If your anywhere near 100k, it's time to replace the Fuel Injectors -(increased performance-better mileage - they clog over time)

When I got my X at 118,000 I replaced the PCV Valve, thermostat, most of the fluids and the usual tune-up. Havn't changed the brake fluid, but now that nolimitssjca mentioned it, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. A couple more things i'm looking at are the EGR Valve and O2 sensor, but these can get expensive and in your case may not be needed.
:salute:

Hello

I flushed the transmission fluid. Changed both front O2 sensors, have to pass the emission test in Ontario. The oil was just done sticker in the window.

Picked up fluids for the Power steering pump, brake fluid and transfer case. Also everything for a tune up (plugs, air filter, fuel filter, PCV).

Will get that done first then start on all the other suggestion given. Also have the ABS light on. Which I know is the back sensor.

Does anyone know of anything that I should also check on a 98? Anything that seems to be a problem with all 98?

Thanks a lot
