Used suspension lift... should I buy?? Please reply

I have a friend that has a 96' Ranger w/ a 6" suspension lift, 3" body, and 35" tires. He wants to get rid of the lifts on his truck, he said he would sell me the suspension lift for $500, or the suspension lift and tires/rims for $1100, the rims are WELD(i am not sure what kind). I want to buy the lift and put it on my 91' Explorer, i know the front components will fit, but I think the u-bolts are too smll to fit the rear, but I could just get some larger ones and it would be OK.

What I am wondering: Would 33" tires do fine on stock rims? they are the 15x7 rims. I dont really want to buy his rims/tires b/c I couldnt run the 35's w/o a body lift and re-gearing. Also: would a used lift be worth the $500? And would some of my friends and I be able to install it? They have experience in installing lifts.

You are better off buying a new kit.
The SOA kit from Superlift ended up costing me over $125..
Then Shocks at 39 ea
then drop pitman at 65
then brake lines at 100
then this, then that.....
You are better off buying a new kit.
33 will fit your stock rim..BUT,,,They WILL rub the sway-bar and the Radius arms..
Get a set of rockcrawlers at 40 ea...well worth the money, and no worries about fit..
What is the age of your friends??? A suspension lift is a big job..It took me 2 days to do mine, and I have access to all the tools and know-how...
Whatever you decide, take the time to do it right..

Ok, thanks for the advice. They are 21, 23, and 25. They have installed lifts on a new F-350 and an old K5 blazer, maybe a couple other things, not positive. I know that those are bothe straight axles, but they are good with machining and workin on that kinda stuff.

They also have degrees in rigger-niggin-LOL, just jokin, no offense to anyone

im sorry ( NOE OFFENSE TO ANYONE) but i think those rims are ugly. a couple of kids at my school have them and you cant tell the dif between the rim and the tire.

I'm with Tarheel on this one. I (like alot of us on this forum), bought my explorer, atleast partially, because it looked good. Rockcrawler rims=ugly. If I just wanted something that was capable and didn't care about looks, I would have bought a cherokee.
