I ordered a Swi-PS to use my steering wheel controls with my after market head unit. But then I remembered I had controls in the rear too... is there anything I can use to make this work?

Ok i'm thinking I can run two SWI-PS units into a coupler and run that single line to the head unit. But does anyone know if the rear radio controls use the same wire harness connector as the steering wheel radio controls? Or am I stuck using a wire diagram to solder the unit to the controls?

So the instructions say to connect the wires to the pin of the car's connector. What is the best way to do this? Just cram them down and tape it up? Or is there an easy way to remove each pin so I can solder it nice?

I'm not understanding these instructions... which side of the wire am I suppose to splice in to? The steering wheel side or the leftover connector behind the head unit? For some reason I was thinking it had such a long remote wire so that you could run the unit up to the steering wheel to splice it in, but i'm not seeing anything that looks like the ford 20 connector it is looking for.

And assuming its the leftover connector that wasn't used in the head unit upgrade, can I still splice 2 SWI-PS units into the same spots?

Heres some pictures of my double din install. Used a 4 pin relay from radio shack for the parking brake bypass. I used a cutting bit on a dremel and it was melting the plastic. Next time i'd use some water or something. I also scuffed up the bottom lip where the chuck of the dremel kept hitting. Not really noticeable but i'll be buying a new bezel because i'm picky lol

I also used a crutchfield wire harness. There is no pop when I turn the key on so I think the crutchfield sub harness may have a resister inline with the remote wire already.

if you rub the bezel with armor all, it may make them barely noticeable

Ok time to wrap this thread up. I installed 2 SWI-PS units (one for steering wheel controls, one for rear controls). The left over connector when installing an after market head unit has all the control wires for both of these controls. I tied the red wire from each unit into the wire harnesses 12v switched power. I tied both grounds to the chassis with the head units ground. Each unit only needs to use 1 wire beyond this. I took spade connectors, cut 1 prong off, and bent the other at a 90 degree angle, and attached them to the wire on each unit's wire harness. This allows the pin to slide into car's wire harness connector. Then I used some electrical tape and wrapped them up so they wouldn't slide out.

There are detailed instructions on pac audios website for which pin to connect to control wire of each unit, so it was relatively easy. The only bad thing about the instructions is that it said that you needed to connect pin 5 on the car harness to 12v accessory, but the wire color it gave for pin 5 was incorrect. I finally said #### it and used another bent spade connector to hook into the harness, and then ran it to the cigarette lighter power cord. Luckily that is the correct way to do it, the wire color they give is just wrong.

My only complaint is that if you hold down the volume up key, then immediately switch to holding the volume down key, it keeps turning up.
