Utah Explorer Trail Runs - Let's get this going

Howdy, all.

I was at Black Dragon earlier this summer. The sections I saw are very doable. The road from I70 to the beginning of the canyon is a little sandy, but I didn't need 4wd. There's a short rocky stretch right at the mouth of the canyon that I didn't want to chance alone in a stock rig, but it has a bypass. From there it's sandy road through the slot canyon up to the pictograph site. We farted around there for a bit before getting chased out by weather, so I don't know what's beyond that point. I didn't see the spot in the photo above, but it doesn't look undoable for a stock rig, assuming you're going down at least.

Anyway, feel free to add me to the list. I'm Kevin in Magna with an '00 XLT and an '86 4Runner, and I'd be down for group runs. NHarris, I'd love to tag along the next time you do Inspiration Point, I've been meaning to get up there.

Alright, good to hear you're on the list now. I'm planning on going up to inspiration once more this year. Hopefully within the next 3-4 weeks. It'd have to be on a Saturday. Either inspiration point or skyline trail in Farmington

I'm free this Saturday - anybody else? I'd be down for Skyline or Inspiration Point, I haven't been on either of those trails. I'd also be down for exploring in the west desert - I'm headed down to the map store this morning to pick up a set of maps for the Newfies, I haven't been out there yet either.

Anyway, the wife has kicked me loose and I have a hankering to get out somewhere new, so lets cook something up!

I'm more into Hiking, Backpacking in Southern Utah or the Uintas. I'm planning on a trip in either Mid March and/or Mid April. The first trip will be some hiking in the Canyonlands National Park "Island In The Sky" District in Moab. Let me know if you are interested, a PM or email would be probably better than posting here, but that will work also.

I guess no one?

I'd be interested in meeting up for some hikes in Northern Utah.

Cool. I usually go to Big/Little Cottonwood canyons.

Alright, just let me know a week or two in advance.
And if you ever want to hit some moderate trails up, like farmington canyon, let me know.

Anyone want to have an "Explorer meet and greet" or go wheeling?

I was going to try to meet folks at Green River to kick around the old missle test site and maybe get some 20 minute chicken. Then camp at Crystal Geyser or up at Smith's cabin. But I'm layed up on home restriction with part of my good leg missing and will be for another 3 months.

Might get folks together in Green River anyway to meet the Expedition Moab folks in April. Sure wish Sissy and I could make it.

Well I am probably going to be down in Moab in July. I may see if I can round up some more members... We could possibly meet up for some wheeling.

Doc said I'm off my good leg for at least 3 months. July is purdy hot in Utah though. Just have to see. Might drive out for a deal over SE of Hanksville sometime this year. Going to do Poison Spring Canyon. And I want to poke around Black Mesa SW of Blanding for a bit. And the Blue Mountians west of Blanding. Maybe even take a little jaunt over Bears Ears.

If I don't have more trouble with with my "good" leg and the bad one holds up I could be a maybe. If folks want to get some 20 minute chicken in Green River and maybe go out and poke around the test site that will increase the maybe a bit. Might even stop over a bit in Moab for a Wendy's salad and maybe a shower. Might even splurge and have a Fat Boy.

Then there is HITR in September. We'll be down west of Blanding for a few days on that.

Moab will be roasting in Jul.

The Henry's and Lonesome Beaver will be nice in July. :D

I'm already roasting when its in the 90's in northern Utah. Whats 10 more degrees going to do :p:

Hey newer explorer member here, been on the sight for a while though. I'd love to hit some trails up. Ive got a stock 2000 sport, but plan on the usual mild mods - getting 265/75R16 duratracs installed next week. And plan on ordering 4 door/add a leafs, and doing the Torsion twist thing in the next week or two.

Let me know whats up and when.

Names Braden by the way, in east Layton.

Welcome aboard! If you want to do some trail runs this summer, let me know!

Any locals up for a meet this month?
