I might be able to go on the 12th if you guys go then. I'll be at home in Charlotte fot the rest of the summer after that, so we'll have to go to Uwharrie sometime later too. My suspension is stock, but it sounded like that wouldn't be a problem. I'll follow this post to see what happens.

the third date (latest) would be good for me. gots exams on the other two dates

Who's Ready to Get MUDDY!!!! :D

Our jeeper friend can't go until sunday, but that's ok. We'll be able to find our own way around and maybe he can show us some cool spots when he gets there.

You guys let me know when you can go for sure!

Nope still may 10-12.

Oh, OK, cool. Sorry about that, I didn't know it had already been announced for then. Mapquest has me at 6 hours 30 minutes to go 316.03 miles. Due to the distance I don't really think I'll be able to go, but I'll check into it anyway and let you know

So if I do go, what's the plan? Are we arriving on Friday and camping all weekend? Hotel? How's it all work, I've never done one of these before. Is it the type of thing we should be reserving now? And how much do we expect the trip to cost, between accomodations, food, etc? I really don't know if it's the type of thing with hotels and restaurants, or camping and barbecues.

I dunno, I haven't really done a whole lot in preparation. Personally, during the summer I would prefer a hotelroom. I will be arriving friday, and staying and wheeling through sunday morning most likely. I was thinking we could all meet and go to dinner like on saturday night though, that would be nice.

OK, cool. Doesn't seem like too much preplanning has gone on, but that's not all a bad thing. I'll talk to my dad about it tonight during dinner and get back to you

Is this a good newbie trail? Is it do-able without any sort of lift?

Yes some trails can be run by stockers.

since it's may 10-12th, i should almost definately be able to go. university's out, so all green lights so far... just keep me updated on accomodations and such. are there any places to camp out there? if so shoot i'll sleep in my damn truck. fold down the seats and throw a sleeping bag in. let me know what everyone decides. later

OK, well my dad's on a business trip, so it turns out that I won't be able to ask him until he gets home, either Wednesday or Thursday night. Will get back to you when I can

I closed the poll so there is no confusion. I'm still planning to be able to make it that Saturday. I'd be driving down that morning and leaving that night. What times are you planning to get started and finish?

I'm not much for crack of dawn wheeling so I figured we will start around 10:00a.m. on saturday. I'll look for a map of the area and post it also so we will all know where to meet. I am unsure of when we will finish due to the size of the area, we will have to play it by ear.

Just out of curiosity...I'm planning things in my head. If I leave my house at about 8AM Saturday, I should get there about 2PM, then spend the night and leave Sunday around 12-1PMish. Does that sound like a doable plan? If I get there about 2, can I meet you guys somewhere?

i may try this. i am going to miss the tellico run now because the inlaws are in town.
this one is a bit far, like diablo said.. but i want to meet some folks on the board!

jason, we'd love to have ya!

From speaking with a friend who has mountain biked there he said it was just awesome. He said the views are great and the terrain is rugged.......what else could you really ask for?

Jasonb, I don't know for sure if I'm going or not, but if I am we can try to meet up and drive up together if you want. I don't know, I'm just kinda throwing ideas out there.

sounds good to me man.. that would take some pain out of the drive for sure

OK, cool. Sounds good. Jasonb, when were you planning on going up?

BTW, I asked my dad this morning if we could go, he said he'd think about it. Before he makes his decision, though, he wanted to know about how many people are going, and also if there'd be anyone his own age (47ish) to hang out with or if it would only be people my age (17ish). If anyone (Jason_25) could give me a guess at the answers to these questions, that'd be very much appreciated. Thanks!
