I'm still not sure if I'll be there. I've got finals for the next week, then I'm driving back home to Charlotte, and I'll have to see what my parents think when I get home. If it was up to me, I'd be there all weekend, but since its not my truck, I can't really make that decision.

By the way, I'm so sick of thinking right now. I'm gonna be up all night writing a damn c++ program. These emails keep distracting me though. I can't wait till next weekend when I'm done with school for a while. :bounce:

I'm still pretty positive I'll be there for Saturday. I'll know for sure on Monday.

Alright, cool. NC-X and yob_yeknom, don't forget to post up when you guys know for sure

BTW, NC-X, how'd the programing go last night?

Looks like I'm a definite for Saturday. I have to work Friday night and Sunday morning, so I won't be there either of those days.

Looks like a good chance my dad will come along also, he's never been with me and I think he wants to come this time.

Okay, so the meet time is 10am Saturday morning. Chase, if I were you I'd try to leave a bit earlier to make it by 10. You and your dad could split up the driving while the other sleeps, that way you could leave in the middle of the night.

Since we have not decided any place to meet, how about we just me at the address stated earlier?

789 Nc Highway 24 27 E
Troy, NC

Type that in at maps.yahoo.com and you can get directions right to it. Note that it doesn't really take as long as stated to get there, it adds in time to stop and stuff like that, but do make sure to leave early enough to get there on time. Also, remember to fill up your tank when you get close, that way we won't have to go find a gas station after we meet.

Cool.

Blue Steel and I are gonna leave wilmington sometime friday morning and scout the trails on friday too. I guess we're gonna camp out in our trucks.

How about NC-X. or Tarheel085, are you guys gonna be able to make it?

From the pictures I've seen it looks to be a challenge to us super-stockers for sure.

Oh yeah, CB and cell phones. Let's use CB channel 4, once we all get close we can be on the same channel. Post your cell number so we can notify everybody if there is a problem or anyone is running late. That way nobody gets left behind.

(540) 493-6047

Jason, challenge? I assume you're being sarcastic?

No from some of the pics I have seen the rocks look BIG. But that might have been because the jeepers in the pics decided to take the hard line.

My cell is
(252) 670-1962

why can't we use cb channel 4 1/2? :p my cell is
(910)540-2021
jason get up with me sometime on the blasted instant messenger. leave a message if i'm not there so i can get the details of what's going on friday.

Are you sure that's the same address as was said earlier? When I did it on Mapquest I came up with a farther away location than when I did it the first time. This time Mapquest said 6 hours 28 minutes. To get there at 10 I would have to leave at 3:30 in the morning, and that'd only give me 2 minutes to spare.

I just talked to my dad, and he said there's no way he'd be up for leaving at that time of day. The only way we'd be able to meet up with you is if you guys stopped for lunch around 2 or 3. I know that that probably wouldn't be possible though since lunch is usually relatively spontaneous and usually on the trail, not in town. So unless you guys suprise me by having lunch in town at 2:30, it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it afterall.

Sorry. Hope you guys have fun!

Chase,

We can surely work something out if you can still make it. It shouldn't be too bad of a drive back to the trail head. No reason not to come if you'll just be a little late.

UPDATE:

I CAN STAY FOR SUNDAY!!! :bounce:

I got off work. This is cool.

Thanks

The thing is I'd be getting there between like 2 and 3, and would like to know ahead of time about a rendezvous point. (I like that phrase.) Anyway, I don't really want to make you guys start the trail, turn around, come back, then do it again.

Especially if, as you said, it is a challenge for the stock Exs. I don't know how keen my dad would be about a challenging trail for the Ex.

Well Chase I hate to hear it man but if you change your mind, call my cell and we can work something out.

I hate to say it, but I think it's official that I won't be there. Thanks for trying Jason, but it just doesn't look possible. Damn, I was looking forward to it, too. Oh well. Next time! Next time I'll be there! And you guys have fun this weekend!

And on a totally unrelated note: it looks like you guys all have CBs. I don't. If I wanted to go on a trail ride in the future, should I get one? Are CBs more of a luxury or a necessity on these runs?

C.B.'s are a necessity really. There's almost constant talk on the CB. Very nice to have and they're cheap.

There's the most current map of the area.

Here are the directions to get to the trailhead, why not just meet there?
From Troy, NC:
The forest is 10 miles north of Troy, Troy is west of Sanford. From Troy, head north on NC 109, turn west (left) onto Mullinix Road. Proceed about 1.5 miles. Trail head is about .25 miles to the right after pavement turns to gravel.

Am I gonna be the only one still there on sunday? I'd hate to wheel alone :( Maybe I can find some jeepers or something.

Curtis that would be fine. My fuel pump makes so much noise it's like having a handheld one anyway. :D

Okay, simply get directions to the city of Troy. Here is a map of Troy. Just go west on 24/27 until you get to 109 and turn right to go north on 109. Follow Jason's directions to the trail from there.
