I'm looking for a 2018 or 19 and want the eco. Is there any way to tell which the explorer has based on trim level?

Looking at the 2019 pdf brochure...
Eco is only 4wd.
XLT is VCT or 4 banger.
Sport is only Eco v6
Limited is VCT or 4 banger
Platinum is 3.5 Eco only

I think I just answered my own question after looking much closer. Look correct?

The 2018 and 2019 Explorer.
Base and XLT; Standard T-VCT 3.5L V6, Option 2.3L I-4 Ecoboost
Limited; Standard 2.3L I-4 Ecoboost, Option Ti-VCT 3.5L V6
Sport and Platinum; 3.5L V6 Ecoboost
Unless the ads for an XLT and Limited specify the engine type, youwon't be able to tell which engines they have.

as long as the ads show a picture of the engine bay, you should be able to tell. 2.3L ecoboost has 2 holes/recesses in the plastic cover while the regular v6 doesn't. as you mentioned, these are for the XLT/Limited trims only. Sport and Platinum will always have 3.5 Ecoboost
