 Is it poss. and what is needed to adapt it in if you could give me some advice on this. It has the 4.0 with 73k on it the damn lift top end noise that is common which drived me up the wall. This is a toy so time is not a issue and money dont want to go all out just good and tuff. Any help is great.

Sure, anything is possible. You will need the harness from the donor car. You will also need a new tranny 4r70w, and if you want 4x4 an adapter for your t case to the tranny. This will also need a custom tranny crossmember. If you want AWD you just need a v8 transfer case (BW4404). there are other things I'm sure. All of this for a 302 swap.

advanced adapters sells motor mounts to put a 302 in a first gen explorer. It's an involved swap and takes alot of time, money and research. There are a couple of threads about it on here and many more have done the swap on 1st-3rd gen rangers which are pretty much the same as the explorer. Start reading everything you can, thats my best advice to you on learning how to do the swap.

SEARCH!! This is your 3rd thread and even your first time you were shown where and how to search.

I am putting a late model V8 in my Bronco II right now. My Bronco II is already a 93 4.0L OHV engine.
With 73K miles I say your 4.0L is just getting started, they typically last 200K+. the tapping noise may be due to running the wrong oil or neglect of maintenence
