Hey guys (and gals) i'm new to the explorer world, got it just a week ago today, and i was wondering if the filter adapters off of ebay were worth getting (yes i did a search and got nothing useful). I have a '96 XLT 5.0 or do you know of anywhere i can get full intake for cheap (around $50) Thanks

As far as intake, the KKM goes for $100. Which is just an adapter and a cone filter. Thats about as basic as it gets. The MAC is the next step up, which includes a chromed intake tube. That goes for $150.

I bought a filter with an adaptor from Ebay. Its a very basic setup but very cheap. There is no mounting hardware...the filter just sits loose in the engine bay (re-adjustable zip ties work well to hold it). Also no bolts to hook it to the MAF sensor. Also you need to get a 3in rubber coupler from a hardware store to connect the MAF sensor to the intake pipe. I had to modify the adaptor to fit my MAF sensor. The bolt holes didnt line up on the adaptor (it was designed for a bigger MAF unit). I just took a dremel to it and made a new hole for a bolt. It ended up being like $30 after the parts and such.
