Thats easy to answer, click on the Swap in progress on my sig :D

some things I'm doing with my swap I wont suggest anyone else to go with... This is the way most people do their swaps....
Tranny: Use a AOD with 4R70W guts for the lower gear set, and use the Dead Link Removed kit to keep your stock T-case
Motor: 5.0lt mustang front accories from a 94-95 will work the best for the swap (shorter waterpump/brackets) will give you more room to the radiator
Wiring you want to use a '93 mustang computer because the '94+ computers have more emissions contols build in which means crappy performance and dont take engine mods well...
For more info check Speedfreak and Asp84 who both have 91-94 Gen 1 Explorers with 5.0 swaps done and running

Thank you! Now all i have to do is come up with the cash to get all this done. Hmmmmmmmm, anyone want to buy my soul? LOL

Just so you know, i do plan on making this a track car, so after the 5.0 i'm thinking a ZEX nitrous system and Vortech supercharger along with exhaust and intake. Can you think of anything else i might need to give the troll a run for its money?

Give me a year, and we'll see who needs luck.

um... understand that Troll has around 700hp on the motor now and that is WITHOUT his "little extra" shot of NOS. those GT-40 crate motors are good, but the bottom end is not gonna handle 700hp for very long. it will support a blower and a little laughing gas quite well, but get it up to the figures Troll is running and dont be suprised when a rod goes through the hood.

Says here he's not even runnin 500 HP cowboy. I'm sure when he hits that little red button it shoots up, but I'm pretty confident i could get my exploder up there with him. And as I recall, I asked for ideas, not doubting thomases, so just gimme some time and we'll see.

if your going after track setup you might want to toss the 4x4 and use a 2 wheel drive Explorer to swap in to...
thats pretty much what I'm planning on doing next year
get another black 91-94 Ex Sport and convert it to 2 wheel drive and street truck it :D

The thing is i wanna keep the 4x4 because it'll be a beast offroad to, and i will never give up the mud. Its also got lots of sentimental value. So the front differential is gonna add some extra weight, I think i'll be able to live with it.

although, with 4 tires, that be so sweet to smoke all 4 like that...

I'm lost... you want to go wheelin in it? or be able to run w/ the likes of Troll? Pick one, cause I'm guessing, there isn't a big chance in hell you'll pull both off.. Sorry, hate to break it to ya... Choose one or the other IMO

yeah, either go track or off-road, My current truck is off road set up, and much as I want to I dont think I could ever even think about racing it safely due to the lift and tires, Now a full street set up... with a v8 I'm planning on taking a 91-94 sport and swapping out the 4x4, drop it about 1-2 inches reason to drop the t-case is the lost power due to the chain drive system and in my mind it would make it easyer to work on as a street/strip machine (less parts to break)
other things to think about for the swap, are you planning to keep your A/C, gear ratio (whats good for off-road might not be good for the track) tire size goes along with gear ratio also... for example most of the v8 swapped rigs on here are off road so they are running 3.73-4.10+ gears, but for a street truck you might want to go for a 3.08 maybe seeing that you now have the bottom end power and have it geared to use the top end for speed... IMO trying to set up a v8 swap to go from off-road to the track is too much of a pain and you have to compermise too much to use it for both... not saying it cant be done, just not worth it in my mind
Look at the base reason we modify the hell out of our trucks... cause the stock "all around" truck wont do what we want it to, may it be go off road with out getting stuck, or pull a bad ass 1/4 mile time and keep up with the ricers :D

Hmmmmmm. I'm gonna start talkin to the guys at the shop pretty soon to see what they can come up with. I think maybe when i get the dinero i'll get two sets of tires and wheels (one for offroad and one for track and rice racing), and take of my body lift and do like a 1"-1.5" suspension lift to make it more stable.

1. that dyno run is OLD. he is putting down around 580 rwhp now, so add in 20% drivetrain loss (with an auto tranny) and you get around 700hp on the motor. and this is WITHOUT nitrous.

2. i am not a "doubting thomas". i never said it was impossible. i would personally like to see it done.

3. all i did was give you a dose of reality. the crate motor is not gonna handle that kind of power for very long. this was not to discourage you, or to get you to drop the whole idea, just to let you know that if you run it hard its gonna grenade. this is fact, not my opinion, and it was meant only for the purpose of letting you know that you're gonna have to go with a stronger bottom end in the motor. a seriously stonger bottom end...

700 on the motor is still not 700 at the wheels. I'm sorry I took your post the wrong way. Please accept my sincerest apologies. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT SARCASM)

You think by putting in a 302, supercharger, and nos you'll be able to run 11's? That's what Troll did. I'm not saying you won't, I'm not saying you can't, I'm just saying that Troll is a hell of a guy to try and beat. If you can, I wanna see some videos of that race!!!!

I must note that I am a poor college student who makes a meager living hawking cell phones in Best Buy. The work I want is at least a year away but when i am through, I will definately make the trip to race the Troll, and I'm sure it will definately be a topic of discussion for weeks.
