valve body questions

ok i am in the process of going through my valve body and had a question about the check balls. I only have 4 and transgo says 5 but they dont supply one. Can i buy one or just leave one out, if so which one. also the hole in valve that the shift linkage attaches to in the valve body is slightly elongated, i did see where glacier put a sleeve over one but wont the sleeve still slide up and down on the valve or does it attach to it.

Are you sure you didn't lose one someplace? As I understand it those are very important to a properly working trans.

I believe if you read Glacier's valve body rebuild thread he states there are only 4 stock and he had to get the fifth from a local transmission supply or something ....
