Valve cover gasket replacement

Has anybody ever replaced them yourself if so do I need to take apart the intake

Never did valve covers on the 4.0. I have done them on a ford 3.0 and gm 3.1 and 3.8 all three of those are done with the upper and lower intakes in place
 






4.0 SOHC you don't have to mess with the intake.
 


















What about the fuel line that runs over the drivers side valve cover? how do I remove it out of the way?
 






Idk yet I was going to start today but I'm going to hold off till friday
 






I left the fuel line in place. Just moved it out of the way. Had to undo a hose clamp under #4 spark plug. That was the worst part of the removal process. After the valve cover came off I could see where the oil was coming from. It's around the center bottom bolt. The gasket was hard and brittle. Probably from the heat of the engine, and being old.

I haven't tried the passengers side yet.
 






Oo ok it's ok I got it finished I suggest getting a joint ratchet attachment it helps alot
