@Ninjasupahsquid
I read your subject line & post - now hear comes the answer you probably don't want to hear - LOL!
Since your tick goes away when your engine gets warm, I'd say to reconsider doing anything to it and keep on driving your engine as is.
My feeling is that you run a bigger risk opening a Pandora's Box as opposed to actually hitting your goal and quieting the valve train.
As
@410Fortune wrote, the heads must come off - and that's no small job in and of itself, and carries it's own level of risk for the casual, shadtree mechanic that means well... I'm sure he can count on both hands and feet the number of people he's had to help out of a pickle of their own creation
Back to the "tick" - Aftermarket OHV valve train components Made in USA have dried up, are almost impossible to find, and if you can find them come at a preimuim. Ebay would be your best source.
On the other hand, the ChiCom replacement OHV engine parts that are easily found are junk and will (quickly) wear more than what you have in there.
In the end, it's your call - if the only "problem" you have is a cold start tick, based on my experience, I'd say it's safer to do nothing and enjoy what you have.
The (3) rubber Plenimum gaskets and valve cover gaskets - I can understand replacing those (when necessary).
In closing - I'm just curious - how many miles on your OHV engine?
Is your EX your primary daily driver?
Do you have the $$$ for a Plan B in case your Plan A falls apart?
Hope that helps, enjoy your ride, and Merry Christmas from fast_dave in the PRK
