I bought a 2000 Sport with 115,000 miles about 2 weeks ago. (4.0 OHV) It was running fine until last week when I heard what I thought was the bearings going out of the water pump. (The loose marble sound)
I took it to the garage to have it checked out but when we took off the belt the sound was still there (not good). Using a stethoscope we narrowed it down to the middle cylinder on the left side.
After tearing the top end down we found 3 rockers wallowed out on the pushrod end and the same pushrods worn egg shaped. I decided to replace all the rockers and pushrods since it was already torn down.
I did some research online and found that the Cologne engines were notorious for being short on oil in that area.
I guess the question is....how do I increase the oil flow in that area.
Thanks for reading....
