Ok guys I would like to get some of your opinions about what you all have done about re-location of your vent tubes.

Here in central Texas we don't have any mountains, but we do have some creek/river beds to go wheeling through, not all of them deep but some are.

I thought about re-reouting the rear-end tube up to the engine compartment or up the filler neck to the gas door area next the the gas cap.

And then routing the transmission and front axle to the highest point in the engine compartment.

Does the transfer case have one too?

What did you guys do with yours and were there any "tricks" that had to be done for any of them, suggestions please, as I don't want to fill up any of these items with H2O.

Thanx!

P.S. did any of you water proof anything else that I might need to know as good FYI?

I just have 2: one from the tranny and the rear diff. I routed both up under the hood to a simple $10 breather filter from Autozone. Both hoses fit into the end of the breather with some creative geometric cuts and are clamped into it. The breather filter is just ziptied into place.

The only difficulty I have is that sometimes the breather hose comes off the tranny's nipple. I just check it periodically.

I routed the front diff, tranny and xfer case up into the engine compartment, up by the window washer ressivor. I routed the rear diff up into the where the gas cap is. I just drilled a hole up to the left of it so no gas can get in. There are some threads on water proofing but I haven't done any of them.

Thanx all!

Confirmed what I should be doing now!

Alec mabey we should run up and down East Beach sometime, play in the dunes!

Sure, just gimme a PM! I'd like to go wheeling more often, but am very very busy with school. The only wheeling I really get right now is jumping a curb every once in a while :(

Between June 20 and June 30 I may be able to drive into the hill country if you find a nice (legal) place to wheel. Keep in mind traction is my friend with only 2wd :)

Sounds great, I think I can find a few places we can go wheeling where your 2WD will bite enough to have some fun.

Yeah I grew up in Friendswood/Clear Lake, and worked the East Beach gate back in the early 80's when it was like 50 rows of cars plus, lined up on the beach partying from Friday to Sunday, man those were the days.
You know we could also take the ferry to Crystal beach and go wheeling, or the old HWY going past Crystal is closed to regular thru traffic cause the bay has washed it away and is likw 50 miles of wash out HWy that is legal to travle on, it will almost take you to Orange,Texas, look it up on a map you will see what I'm talking about.

Legal! yeah I'm with you on that one too!
