Just finished a very bad week. Tuesday saw my Ex on the back of a 7 ton AA recovery vehicle on her way to a garage 17 miles away. Mike, the AA guy spent two hours on her in front of my house trying to get her to start - I had already spent an hour. Ran perfectly coming home, but would not start Tuesday morning. No local garage would touch it, so after a ring around by the AA, it has gone to a fuel injection specialists.
I feel I have lost a great chunk of myself - hoping for some news on progress on Monday. Sad, sad, sad:thumbdwn:. Might go and get:bdrunk:

Im sorry mad I know my truck feels like a leg I would never know to do if it was not sitting out side my house :(

sorry to hear the truck is poorly mate:(
hopefully itds something really silly and on the bright side (always have to look for the silver lining;)) at least the truck got you home before breaking you could have been somewhere really difficult and a long way from home, and when you get her back she will be ready for some more explorering.
hope it gets mended quickly and cheaply mate.

Along the fuel pump line of thought, i seem to remember reading about a fuel cut off switch located in the passenger side footwell. This is mentioned in the owners manual but couldnt find any refernce to it during a skim thru Haynes.

The owners manual says it can be activated by sudden vibrations. If activated this button will be raised.

Hope your back on the road soon

when my timing slipped the RAC diagnosed fuel pump failure, so I bought a new one. I also got a new fuel pump relay and crank sensor too, cost me over £300 for the lot. But it turned out that the timing had slipped so the engine needed a rebuild.. hope you're not in the same boat I was..

Si

When mine wouldn't start, it was the cranshaft sensor connector. Try wiggling it a few times. Mines been perfect since.

Thanks everybody for the support - much appreciated in times like this. All sorts of horrible things go through your mind when this sort of thing happens. The AA guy didn't think it was the pump, although he did bang the tank a few times which apparantly sometimes gets them working again. He also checked the cut-off switch. I think the AA must be wise to the crankshaft sensor - the first thing he did when he arrived was go underneath and check that. I must admit, before he arrived I had also checked it as well.
Will keep you posted with progress.

So sorry about that mate-Hope its a quick fix and she is purring soon!

Back at last:D:D:D:D. I'm human again (if that is possible!!). Brilliant place it was taken to. Re-charged battery, managed to start it (intermittant fuel pump relay was the problem in the end). Fitted new Bosch relay, did full diagnostics on the whole vehicle to check all systems to make sure that was definitely the problem, started it several time a day for a few days to ensure no problems occured, then finally gave it a fifteen mile test drive before giving it a clean bill of health. All this for under £90 (plus VAT). Very pleased indeed. Back to some serious motoring now.

good stuff ....at least they found it without a huge load of parts thrown at it (:
