Thanks to all those who offered suggestions to this problem. This weekend, I pulled the driveshaft off, checked the U joints and greased the slip yoke while I was at it. All looked good with the drive shaft. I also checked the ball joints and they were fine. Next I removed the shackles and put my old ones back on. As I expected, the problem completely disappeared. For now, I think I will leave it as is.
