I got a 1999 xlt 4x4. I had the rear seals leaking. So I changed the rear seals and bearings on both sides. After three weeks I noticed a vibration kind of grinding sound. I thought it was the front hubs and bearing so I bought new ones and installed them. Still had the noise going on. So I took the rear off again and noticed some really small metal particle in the oil like kind of glitter. Took the drivers side off nothing wrong with it. Passenger side looks like something is grinding on shaft that goes out to the bearings. Up by the bearings. Wheel bearing is still good. What can the problem be? THANKS!!!!

Can you please clarify? There are no "wheel bearings" on the rear axle. There is an axle bearing though. If the axle is being shaved you probably need a new axle shaft and bearing.

A picture might help. Use a hosting site like Photobucket and link the picture into your post.

Bearings are new. I put it back together. Not able to take pictures.
The axle shaft itself right by the bearing it's where it seems to be rubbing. I'm going to see if I can find a picture on google to explain it better.
