I think I may have found the problem I have been having with vibration at about 1700 RPMs and 55 MPH. It looks like it may actually be an ignition problem causing cylinder #4 to misfire. I have been able to trace it back to the coil pack (by moving the ignition and wires around, the problem follows the #4 connection on the coil pack. At that point what else could the0 problem be? How much do the coil packs run and is there any advantage to a high performance coil pack? Let me know if you have any information. Thanks!

If you are only loosing one cylinder it is most likely not related to the coil pack. The coils used on your Eexplorer fire in parallel. In otherwords, there are three seporate curcits in the coil pack. Each curcit controlls spark for two cylinders, so if you were experiencing a coil missfire it should effect two cylinders. I would start by checking the plugs and wires. It doesen't matter how new they are, I have seen them come out of the box bad.

I was able to isolate the problem away from the plugs or wires by switching #4 and the parallel firing partner (I think it was #3 but I can't remember). This switch included combinations which left me with the conclusion that it was a problem on the coil pack. The problem always came from the same connection on the coil pack no matter which combination of plugs and wires I used. I am wondering if there is anything else that could cause that problem from the coil pack?

Guys, I know someone must have done something with a coil pack or has at least a little information for me. I won't bump this again. I just don't want to waste money on the coil pack if that isn't it.

I know this is an old post but I just isolated the same problem to the coil pack as well. I think I had cylinder #7 out. But I know it is possible to have the coil pack not fire only one cylinder. I was having misfires and sputtering, and after changing the plugs and wires, I found out it was the coil pack. They have them on carparts.com for around $50 (each side). My question is if I change one coil pack will it work in harmony with the existing one? Or should I change them both? Thanks!

i would replace both just for the same reason why you dont replace one shock or one brake pad or any other kind of ware item that occor in pairs. you want them to be balanced
