Hello. I have a 2015 Explorer, base. The issue I’m having is a vibration type noise. However this only happens randomly if the vehicle is in drive and stopped. Things I’ve noticed is that if the steering wheel is turned the noise stops. It will also stop if you proceed to driving and or shift to reverse or park. The noise seems to come from maybe the steering column but it is hard to tell. Any ideas on what this might be ?

Welcome to the Forum.
This type of vibration can be difficult to track down, especially if it is random. Could be that something is lose or rubbing. Could be mechanical.
when it happens in Park have tried opening the hood to see if you can locate the area of the sound?

Hey Peter, so the vibration noise itself does not happen when the vehicle is in park, reverse. I’ve not noticed it when in neutral either. I would have to get lucky honestly to even check under the hood because it will stop as soon as the brake is released as well. It’s a very odd scenario.

Looks like you may need another person's help in order to check under the hood if the noise stops when the brake is released.

Peter
