1991 XL - 210,000 miles, 2 WD, Manual Tranny
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a slight vibration develop while driving at highway speeds... for me that means 80 mph. Did not think too much about it at the time. NOW it has started to get much worse.
Everything is pretty smooth until I shift to 5th gear, then it shudders and vibrates bad. Shudders bad whe shifting to 5th at say 50 mph aprrx 1500 rpm. In 4th at the same 50 mph it is very smooth. If I go down the highway at 80 and ease of the gas everything smooths out. I do not notice any "clunk" sounds when letting off the gas suddenly (like a u-joint going out). Needs some help. Think it maybe the tranny mount? Everything as far as mounts, suspension, etc. is all STOCK ... never been replaced. Any suggestions for the cause would be appreciated.
