2004 Explorer XLT V8
Calling out from Melbourne down under, have a 2004 Explorer XLT V8, 150000 Km, and have had a vibration for a while now, only happens when wheel is turned and start to accelerate and smooths out when speed increases and wheel s straighten. Then I have another noise like a grinding and feels like its under my feet, this happens if I've lost traction sometimes, seems to happen more in lower gears, and it comes and goes very randomly but sounds harsh when it appears. Can anyone help ...

The vibration when turning and accellerating is from the clutches in the rear differential. change out the fluid and add friction modifier. if that doesn't clear it up then the clutches will need to be replaced.

The other concern is normal. What your feeling is the traction control kicking in when it senses once wheel spinning faster than the others. Your feeling the ABS module slowing/stopping the wheel that has lost traction.

G'day mate, welcome.

Thanks for reply, been stressing that my beast is on its way out, should the ABS module kick in while driving normally, mostly at low speeds, seems to even out when speed increases, and if so how do I fix it.

is your ABS light on? If so then get it scanned and repair as needed. if not, check your wheel bearings for play.

ABS light does not come on in auto, only when low is selected it flashes. And have been told if it is wheel bearings the grinding sound would be constant. I had a mate in the back other day, not a big car fella but said diff sounded loud, i know nothing about cars myself, appreciate the help.
