Hi guys new to the Forums here and a lot of great advice on here as well.

Well i recently got my moms old explorer and notice when i drive the car the MiL would come on. i jumped the harness to pull the codes but I'm not sure what they are. here is the video link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vrlzVXHyqQ

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for posting the video, it really helps!

I watched it four times. This is what I got every time.

335, 1 (separator), 33, 23, 32

This means:
KOEO: 335
CM: 33, 23, 32

335 on your KOEO says DPFE sensor out of range. That is the (usually pot metal) box on a bracket on your drivers side of the motor, above the manifolds. It is part of the EGR system and has two vac lines running from it. They go bad and cause minor driveability issues but nothing major. But you should replace it. Water vapor and corrosion usually kill them.

33 is EGR valve opening not detected.
23 is closed throttle TPS voltage higher or lower than expected.
32 is EVP circuit has intermittently failed below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts.

So, code 33 would make it seem that your EGR valve is probably needing replacement, or the sensor for it has failed. But, if you replace the DPFE sensor, it may fix that issue. Been there done that.

Code 23, TPS voltage low may indicate a bad or failing TPS, but you can check it with a multimeter. It's three wires. One ground, one reference, one signal. Probe the signal wire and you can watch the sensor work as a simple voltage function. At idle it should read .98v, and as you open the throttle it should increase smoothly to 4+ volts. The sensor is adjustable if you drill out the screw inserts and you can recalibrate the base voltage. However, this code may also indicate the TPS is dropping out and has dead spots. Watching the voltage as you advance the throttle (engine off, key ON) will show you dead spots. If you do a search on this forum, there is a how-to on calibrating and testing your TPS. It is real easy.

Code 32, EVP circuit is the EGR valve position sensor. This could indicate a failed sensor which could throw the EGR valve code. But again, try replacing the DPFE first. When my DPFE sensor failed, it threw multiple EGR codes just like this because it wasn't properly commanding EGR operation.

THanks!!!
The truck has been sitting since march so would that cause anything?? but anyways i took notice when i drive the truck it seems like it has a slight sputter to it when accel. but when im stationary and it revs fine. it seems intermittent but since there a tps code it may be related or even the egr.

I just replaced the clutch and i thought it was something i did to it lol!!!

I don't know about sitting, but as for the DPFE sensor, well they just go bad eventually. Mine showed up as a bunch of random EGR-related codes. It didn't have driveability issues but the check engine light would come on randomly. The new DPFE fixed all the codes. Do check the vac tubing that runs from it to the EGR piping, it could be leaky or decaying.

The TPS would be easy to test with a multimeter so you can get that out of the way. I'm not sure of the cost of a new one, but if yours is bad, you could probably make do with a tested junkyard unit if you're on a budget. But first check if yours is bad for sure, and if it just needs calibration.

I get 23 sometimes. I'll be driving & the CE light will turn on. Drive a little more then it goes off, drive some more & it goes back on. A voltage check says it's fine. A new sensor is about $15. I already had 2 & still get 23 once in a while. I wouldn't worry about that one too much.

I watched the video. The explorers (to my knowledge) did not use two digit codes, only 3 digit codes, and it always repeats them. It is reading 335, 335, 1, 332, 332. The first set is active codes, then a 1 for a separator, then stored codes.

The active code of 335 is:
335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range - EVR or PFE

The stored code of 332 is:
332 (R,M) EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittently - EVR or PFE

I would recommend replacing your EGR or troubleshooting why it is not working. The fact that code 332 was in stored memory means that it is a constant problem not a temporary one.

Code descriptions pulled from http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/3digitcodes.html

ok, yeah 121 is the one I get
