Does anybody know where I can go to figure out my VIN. I'm trying to determine what kind of rear differential I have so I know what kind of fluid to put in when I change it. I went to Fleet.Ford.com but when I entered my VIN, it didn't tell me all I needed to know. Does the VIN even contain that information? If not, how do I find out? Thanks in advance. I know I'll get the info I need from you guys

look at the tag on the rear diff. it should be a little metal tag that is bolted down by one of the cover bolts. it should tell you gear ratio and if its limited slip. if its limited slip youll need to add friction modifier. but this might also help......youll find the label in that image inside your drivers door jamb area.....either on the body or on the door.

What about Tranny codes? My '04 Mountaineer lists "V", but it's not in the list in the Owner's Manual
