Hello Everyone,

I have cruised this forum for a while now but this is my first post. It's great to have such an active forum that I can look up stuff on when I am working on my truck.

The thing that has brought me out of hiding is I am having an issue with locking my doors using the viper alarm I have just installed (viper 5900) in my 04 explorer. I have tried to look this up using the search button of course but wasn't able to find one relevant so I decided to make this thread. When I lock the doors using the viper, my dome light stays on for a while (assuming it goes off when the battery save goes active) which then tells my door alarm that there is a door still open because of dome light supervision. I have the alarm tapped into the door lock wire which is pink/yellow.

With the factory remote I have, it locks and then dome light just fades away as soon as the doors are locked. I am wondering if I can tap into that wire (where ever it may be) or any other way I can lock the doors and have the dome light go off at the same time as the lock so it doesn't trick my alarm into thinking a door is open.

Also, when I unlock with the factory remote, the lights turn on inside and only the driver door unlocks unless i press it twice. I am wondering if there is a way to achieve this with my viper as well. Currently, it unlocks all doors and no lights goes on inside when I unlock it with the viper. The wire I am tapped into for unlock is pink/light green.

I am wondering if these are just features of the factory keyless system and i am sol. The primary concern is lock though. Unlocking all doors and no light until I open the door is something I can live with.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

a common annoyance of an aftermarket alarm is the inability to unlock JUST the driver side door and there's no illuminated entry... My mom had a DEI AutoMate alarm installed on one of her vehicles years ago and she HATED that there was no illuminated entry.

This is why I made sure to get a mountaineer that already had the security system installed.
