2013 Explorer Sport
Was contemplating between the 2013 Pathfinder and the 2013 Sport. Both were nice but couldn't deny the turbo engine. Was told it would be about 7-8weeks but not sure now, as it seems there are back logs in production. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive a VIN #? I ordered mine on Dec 12 and getting anxious now. Haven't seen any on the road in Toronto though, considering it seems a lot have been sold.

Also, has anyone put winters on the Sport yet? How do the stock rubber handle in the snow? Replies would be much appreciated. First Ford bought, first posting on the site.

I got my Vin two weeks after the order but am still waiting a build date. 7-8 weeks is Still accurate I think

it is accurate mine was 8 plus...pm Crystal at Ford Customer Service and she will help you track it.

My new Explorer was built Dec 6 and I'm still waiting.

I am using 18-inch Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1's on XLT take-off wheels. The stock tires have horrible reviews for winter use on Tire Rack, but I have little personal experience with them in snow. The Blizzaks and snow mode are a great combination.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did PM Crystal but I think I may have messaged her too early in the process, just a couple days after I made the purchase. I hope my dealer got the order in already! I am looking at some of the modifications that people are doing in the other threads and they look great. Hope we can find a shop in Toronto that specializes in some Ford mods. If anyone knows one already, pls pm me or post here. I know a great shop that does rustproofing, tints, etc.. but that's about it.

Hey gang!

The good news: waiting is the hardest part, but getting your new Explorer is worth it! As a reminder, I can give you weekly updates on your vehicle's status, so just because you PM me once doesn't mean you have to stop! Keep in touch with me and I'll be happy to track your Explorer's journey home.

Have a fantastic day,

Crystal

Same here. Ordered 11/14, built 12/13 and was supposed to be on the way 12/14. Delayed coz of weather and still waiting. PM'd Cory or Crystal with VIN for status... thanks in advance.

Sport, Ruby Red, Pecan interior, bucket seats and almost every option except for the park assist I believe. Can't wait!

I ordered mine last month. Can't wait till it arrives, I haven't seen one on the road yet in the GTA. Looking forward to doing some mods too :)

The waiting is so going to be worth it, ChaiG! Let me know when you're ready for another update.

Hey Matrix848,

I'm happy to keep an eye on your Explorer's status, too. Just shoot me a PM with your order number/dealer name or VIN and I'll give you the details.

Thanks!

Crystal

I've got the same winter tires on my sport and can tell you the Blizzaks are quite good in the snow - without putting it into winter/snow mode. Still looking for a couple of icy patches to see how they do. Just make sure they properly torque the wheel lug nuts on if you go with steel wheels - mine weren't done properly the first time, but fortunately there was no damage. In terms of the change in tire dimensions, I'd say the steering feels lighter and there's a bit more cushion in the ride for a bit of a handling compromise compared to the 20s. I'll have to weigh the 20s vs the 18s to see how much of a difference there is, but I'd say it feels pretty significant at least in terms of steering.

I can only comment on the stock tires in the snow. We recently got around 8" of snow here. My personal opinion of the stock Hankooks----Worst tire I've ever been on in the snow! Granted I think these tires suck in the really hard rain as well.

That's not inspiring news about the stock tires!

Thanks for the update Crystal!

That sucks about the stock tires. I do trips to Quebec and Vermont so will need proper winter tires. I'll have to look into the Blizzaks.
