I came across this listing for a 7-pin connector on ebay...$30.00 shipped. A lot of us with class II have 4 pins and here's a way to upgrade to a 7pin. I bought one. I'm posting the link for you all interested.
I know it says F250, but ctrl f it and type in explorer and it'll come up. Hope this helps some of you! :D

Ford F250 F-250 F350 Trailer Hitch Harness Plug Socket
I assume this is an aftermarket part.

Happy New Year!

Care to explain what the difference with a 4pin and a 7pin do?

Nate- I think that's just a socket to mount to the exterior for existing 7 pin wiring, it's not a flat 4 to 7 pin convertor if that's what you were looking for...

I think you're looking for one of THESE, THESE or THESE

4 pin L/R turn signals, brake lights, running lights.
7 pin is L/R Turn signals, brake lights, Running lights, trailer brakes, hot wire, and negative wire.

Joe I wasn't looking for a converter. I was looking for a replacement. My current trailer has the 7 pin so I can't hook anything up to it. Thanks for the links; It will help others looking for an adapter or converter. EDIT: I'll probably redo the wiring soon with my class III hitch that I will buy. For some reason the JYs take the connectors

Correct- the ones I listed are replacements. The eBay link you posted is a socket for a truck that already has 7-pin. It's like a mounting plate, the 7 pin already on the truck plugs into the back of it.

If your truck has a flat 4, you need the first link or the second link which will turn your flat 4 into a 7 pin on your truck so you can plug your trailer into it.

You would plug the flat 4 into the harness, then wire the other leads in for the other of the 7 pins used, then mount the socket for a permanent mount to now have a 7 pin. If you need flat 4 again, you can then use one of THESE thingamajobs...

And I already bought the ebay one  Will the ebay one plug into that, or is that the direct connector to the trailer connector

I think the eBay one is just the end of the kit listed. Some of the kits I've seen come with a plug at the back of the mount, some are wired directly in. I think the one you have is a direct wire in.

You can probably use the one you have if it ends up being like the one below, but you're going to have to hack your wires up.

Check this out- watch the video... :) CLICKTASTIC

The idea of the ones above is to just plug the flat 4 to connect 4 wires immediately, and then you have lead wires already hooked to the socket to run to your other locations. With yours you will have to run all of the wires, etc...

THIS one is pretty cool if you want to keep your flat 4 socket available...

Thanks Joe! I appreciate the help.
I'm going to see if the seller will let me cancel my order. I haven't paid yet, told them the story and all. If they say no I will deal with it and work around it. Hopefully the will say yes. Would be a waste to have to ship it back to them just to get my money back. I think if I get a cancel on the ebay one I'll get a 4pin to 7 pin. I honestly don't know about towing wiring and all. My last rig was already been equipped with a 7 pin connecter.

And about hacking up wires...that's the life story of my Ex. :D From the MAF sensor, to the radio, to the speakers.

Not the end of the world if they don't, the other ones are just easier to deal with. I'm going to wire in a new F150 style dual plug so I have both available... SHAZAM!

Why am I still awake? WTF?!? :D

I like the new dual style plug...got me thinking now. I was fortunately able to cancel. :)
