This may be posted elsewhere, but if not, here you go. Back in April I jumped in my 06 Mountaineer, (automatic climate control) started the truck and the blower was running full blast, through the defrost. Tried and tried, could not turn the system down or off. I could redirect the air flow and adjust the temp settings. Turns out after a call to my Ford dealer, it was the a/c control module behind the glove box. Part was about $60.00 and took 10 minutes to replace. If you experience this type failure, check your a/c control module. Good luck!
