I have a '96 Explorer 5.0 with AWD.
I am building a 347 stroker engine for it and I also want to upgrade my
transmission/xfer case to give me (at least) a low range.
What I would really like is something like my 2003 Navigator has where I can switch between 2wd, 4wd and awd with a dial on the dash.
I am planning a 3" body lift which I hope will help with clearance for any swaps.
So here are my questions:
1] Will my 4R55 handle the extra torque of my 347? Can it be upgraded to do so?
2] Will the Navigator setup (I think it is a 4R100) bolt to my 5.0?
If not, Is there some setup similar to the Navigator that will?
