14 PGM city on a 5.0L with 248k with the A/C on is about right. I get a bit better where I live as there's no traffic (and barely a city to drive through) maybe 15.5-16 MPG city. During the winter w/out A/C on I get around 17+ city. My best HWY MPG is around 22-23 MPG. All you can really do is keep your engine in good tune, keep your tires properly inflated and don't lead-foot it.

There are a few things you can do to increase the HP/torque, but I wouldn't recommend doing much to an engine with that many miles. More power means more stress on an old engine.

To add what a former Ford dealer technician told me, he really likes the V8, and modding it with larger injectors MAF etc. Said the performance gains were substantial.

After seeing that horror show that passes for exhaust manifolds on a 5.0 I'd have to say that even cheap headers would be an improvement for power and economy.

Properly designed and made extractor type headers are well worth it.

I see a lot of members talking bout the torque monster headers ive got the gt 40 302 also was wanting to know about the exhaust i want to bring it out rite in front of the passenger back tire with no muffler. also any small opinions on next tune up best wires and plugs and any info on better cold air intake. would also like opinions and feed back on super chips. thanks yall keep it coming

also some really good road tires
