Just for that the price went up 10. They now run 55 to 65. Somebodys coming today to get it and rebuild it.

Desert rat may not list the shackles on their site. If they don't give them a call. They've got them in stock.

Do you recall the lift, or more inportant, the distance between the bolt holes on the WAR153 shackles?

Well theyre 8.5" long ..the stock shackles are usually 5.5" but some are 4.5-5"..so you can expect 1.5" of lit, and maybe 2" or so if you have the shorter stock shackles.

I had the 5.5" stockers but I sure got a heckofa lot more than 1.5" of lift..the springs have settled a little more but the rear was skyward for days...still is sorta...

Hey....no fair.....he asked me.

He's right though. I got about 1.5 lift in the rear. It did flatten my springs as you can see, but it also improved the flex. I'll take that trade. Here's a photo of the warriors and the stock shackles side by side. You can also see how flat the springs became

The pic says it all! I want to remove the helper spring that Cepek put in with the 2.5" Rancho lift. I think this shackle will do it!

Im the past, there was some discussion on the size of the bolts. Has this issue been corrected, or does it still exist?

Never once have I had a problem with mine, so as far as I know they've fixed it. I would make sure though that you tighten the bolts every few hundred miles though.

does the flattening of the leafs hurt it in the long run? also, will it cause more bottoming out? will the leaf arch the other way since it is so close to straightening itself. i want a lift and am debating between shackles or add-a-leaf. not both though. what are your opinions?

I have only had my springs reverse themselves once. You'd have to get some killer flex for this to happen. In the long run I'm sure it will cause the springs to flatten out early, but so will 4wheeling. It all depends on what you want from the lift. For trail use I feel that shackles are the better option.

if you wanna level out the ride, i have coil spacers for the front that will lift it the same as the rear. actually as i'm writing this, this offer is for anybody. i might just post it in the for sale forum. price will be like 30 bucks or so. let me know maybe,

They seem to have fixed it. Got mine a couple weeks ago and it all fit great.

coil spacers for the front? what are they? is that if we dont want to do the torsion twist? are they easy to install? how is the ride compared to the torsion twist?
shakles at the back is ok then. i do mainly highway. once in a blue moon i go play in the dirt. now the front. trist or spacer. any pictures of the coil spacer?

FYI

The helper springs will increase the spring rate, making them stiffer than stock, in addition to giving some change in height. The shackle basically changes the height of the frame of the truck, at a rate of half of the length added to the shackle.

Your 1999 doesn't have front coils.. It has the torion bar. The torsion is the only easy lift for the front on the IFS exploreres.

well...expect stiff leafs for a few days after the shackle install...and dont forget to grease the new shackle bolts.
If you go do some wheelin to "pop" your shackles/springs..you get the flex I guess. My springs rode stiff for days..had me worried..but then I just did a little light wheelin, got the shackles movin, and now I can even hear 'em when I hit a dip on the street.

They work ok with the stock springs but I'm lookin into new ones...what a headache.

okay a question here, as good as anywhere else. A year ago when we all started talkin' 'bout the torsion twist, WAR153s', add-a-leaf... I was trying to a get an, as yet unanswered, answer to my question. I have the Explorer listed below. It has a SINGLE (monoleaf) leaf for the rear. Can I do an add-a-leaf? Should I just stick to WAR153s and do the 'twist' to the front? Oh, BTW, I don't remember the code offhand, but I do know that I have the 'soft' or light duty torsion bars in the front. Will a twist possible damage these or should I get the heavy-dudes ?
It doesn't see much more than light trails, unpaved roads, occasional mud, but mostly roads use, but I see BFG Bajas 30x9.5/15s in its future and the added 1.75-2.00 in. all around WOULD look good and help in the 'occasional' mud ruts.
What should I do?

the coil spacers i have are for the ones with coil springs in the front, like 91-94. easy install and levels out the ride perfectly.
