Hi folks, I haven't been on here much lately... been caught up with real life issues.

Took my daughter to the doctor this morning for her 4 month vaccines... on the way back, wife & I got into a minor collision.

Could somebody be so kind as to point out what that trim piece is? It's a gold color in person... iPhone camera didn't really get the right color, but you'll be able to see what I'm talking about anyway.

I assume this is separate from the fender itself... any idea what this piece costs? Thanks! :)

IIRC its a flare? EDIT: Make that "Fender Flare" ?

Looks to be correct, YB.. any idea where I could find a replacement for a relatively inexpensive price? :)

yup, Fender flare, your ford dealer should be able to give you the part number and price

nope. ur on your own on that one. but im sure someone here knows. my only guess would be some local scrap yard like i do here. maybe craigslist?

or post in the classified of the forum maybe?

try kbabiak's parts request thread. I've dealt with him before and would recommend him to anyone

thanks all :)

and if someone happens to run by this thread & have that part... PM me please. I'm gonna go find that parts thread now..

Does anybody happen to know where I could find spray paint that matches the color of that fender flare? Looks like a lot of the options I'm finding require repainting.

Just be aware, there are two different flares available, the narrow, and the wide. If I recall correctly, the wide flare was only on Eddie Bauer models, but I could be wrong. That was a fairly common color, so you should be able to find one at the junkyard.

Thanks for the heads up. Checked local salvage yards. Nadda :(

Try Fit-Rite or POY, both after market body part suppliers. They might not sell direct though. You may need to go through a local body shop, or a junkyard that also sells new aftermarket parts. Painting it isn't really a big deal. Scuff, prime it, and then paint it. Most of the NAPA's around here can mix up factory colors, in single stage (clear and color together), in a spray can for you. It's about $20 a can, and one should be more then enough for one flare.

It seems that those trim colors are hard to find listings for though, you might need to get the paint code/PPG#,etc.. from the dealer. Some autobody supply place can also match the color by bringing them the vehicle, or part. They use some kind of infrared color analyzer to determine the right formula.

www.LMCTruck.com should have them. They have most everything for Explorers. However, you might have to wait for their server to be fixed. I just went to the site and got a server error.:dunno:

Doh lol. Got an error too. I already paid Kbabiak for a used replacement though... was just about to update this thread. Thanks all :D
