Ok I have water in the #1 cylinder. I've determined that I must be a head gasket because there in no oil in the water. Hopefully not a craked head. I've decided to go a head and rebuild the whole motor. It has 140,000 miles but the funny thing is that it dosen't burn a drop of oil and you can rub you finger in the tip of the tail pipe and it is clean clean. No carbon build up. What do you guys think. How much power is the 4.0 capable of near 200 horses? I would like to do internal power up grades while I'm at it. Cam etc. Is it worth it? Does any one have experience with this build up? Thanks Robbie J ps. now I really can't make truckhaven. $hit! Oh well more time to prepare for MOAB!

Go to http://www.vanirtech.com/ for a good idea on what performance parts for a 4.0 will cost. Theoretically, a 4.0 litter motor is capable of producing over a 1000 HP. Of course that's not very practical for daily driving and would cost you well over $50,000. I have seen 4 cylinder turbocharged motors producing over 800 HP but they are race only. Without giving up derivability and without having to get a second mortgage, you can get about 300 - 350 HP from your 4.0 OHV. Vanir sells forged pistons, aluminum connecting rods and other components to improve performance. You can install a supercharger and/or nitrous oxide system such as the one Venom sells. I know Vanir is working on a head gasket for high compression 4.0s but you can order custom gaskets. It will cost you a few hundred dollars though.

Whether or not it is worth it is up to you. Do some homework, contact Vanir and do a search on this site and you'll find tons of tips, tricks and opinions.

Good luck and keep us posted!
