water leak inside cabin, HELP!?!?!?!

hey,

got a prob with water leaking into the cabin under the carpeting and pooling under the insulation. Ive ripped everything out and sprayed water all over the exterior and rivers jus form on the outer edges between the door and the floor. any1 have any ideas or thoughts that mite help?! cuz it my suv sounds like a giant water bottle on wheels when it rains.

Can you see at all where it is leaking from? Is your windshield original, or has it been replaced? A bad replacement windshield install is a common source of water problems... I would check all seals and such and make sure they are all intacked with no signs of water intrusion.

Wow! Guess what spent this weekend doing? I just concocted some preventive measures yesterday to prevent this from happening to me again.
My carpet and padding was wet only on the driver side front and back. I have runners in my truck to help keep the carpet clean and one day I noticed water underneath it. I pulled up the runners and got the carpet cleaner from in the house and sucked up about a quart of water from the carpet and padding. I then propped up 2 hair dryers and let it blow for about 3 hours until it was completely dry.
It had snowed and I was driving my other car but I didn't clear the snow off of my truck. It had sat there for a week so I thought maybe water got in through the moonroof and ran down to the front. That was about a month ago.
It rained this past Thursday night and the S.O.B was wet again , but not as bad as before. I got it dried up again and called the dealership. The serviceman told me 2 things: 1) check to see if the 2 drains in the front corners of the moonroof weren't blocked. 2) it could be leaking from the seal at the lower part of the windshield.
The drains in my moonroof were clear and the cup of water I poured to test it out, all run out the bottom into another cup I setup under the running board. That means water has to be coming in from the lower winshield area.
I removed the windshield wiper arms and the cowl to examine. The seal around the lower windshield looked fine but to be sure I used an entire tube of Permatex Windshield & Glass Sealer along the bottom. I also duct taped the openings on the underside of the cowl to prevent as much water as I can from getting in that empty area under the cowl. I'll just have to park in the garage more often.

i tested it and it wasnt the windshield i did the soap n shop air test. i think ive narrowed it too sumwher behind the fender. oh man this is a pain n e help is wanted

If you have a leaky front windshield the water will can leak near your feet on the driver/passenger sides. The water gets in and runs along the side supports and then down into the cabin. Just to show you take a peek at my Leaky Windshield thread. It has lots of pics and info on repairing rust damage. I knew my windshield was leaking and the top of the carpet would stay wet a few days after it rained. When I was installing a CB radio I pulled up the plastic door strip to run the wires in the channels that run along the floor.. I was shocked to see an 1.5" of water in each one.. I then peeled back the carpet and found the foam padding was wrapped in plastic but was completely soaked... I then removed the seats and dried out the carpet (took a few days). I expected to find lots of rust, but was surprised to find none

You might try the roof rack as well. I had water coming in the rear of my 2001 sport. I removed the roof rack and used RV silicone around the holes and a little on the screws (not enough to be seen after re-installation). After I re-installed the rack and the silicone dried, no more leak! Dunno if this is your problem, but just something to try maybe.

I have a water leak issue as well, but its coming from the rear hatch, I think its time to re do all the weather seals, I am getting tons of air leakage from the doors, and the one water leak by the hatch. check your weather striping.
