This defilently isn't the right section (feature truck forum) for this post. Moving it.

I did it on my SOHC. It is not a quick easy, but it is not a nightmare either.

I did replace my in my 96xlt last year,it was not to hard, just take some time.I also changed everything there;thermastat, hoses, belt, belt tighter pully assbly.Ihad about 130,000 miles on mine.

What makes you think the water pump is going bad?

I've done it many times on a OHV which is what you have. I think it's easier than on SOHC. To some it up. Remove the air intake tube. Remove the serpentine belt. Loosen the bolts on the pulley on the front of the pulley that's on the water pump. Using the bolts on the water pump pulley as leverage unscrew the fan off of it. Pull the fan and fan shroud out at the same time. Take the pulley off. Take the bolts out of the water pump. On the right hand side in the middle of the water pump way up in a nook there is a bolt hiding. You may not find it until you get the rest of the bolts off and try to pull the pump off. Clean any remaining seal off of the engine block. Reverse instructions to put it back on.

It's not that hard. But I've done it 3 or 4 times.
