Help For Heroes Ford Explorer
Hi All.
Thanks so much for wanting to find out more about us and the rally. I am totally in love with this incredible example of fine mechanics and I will be gutted to see it go, however it is for a good cause.
Im afraid the car was declared a she, and after all she has been through with our team, she deserves a good send off. A true workhorse and trusty companion, I was genuinely surprised by how well the 1993 Explorer served us in some of the more testing times! This was after all my first ever 4x4.
Had a lot of ribbing from the other competitors on the rally about it being a 'Chelsea Tractor' and the usual anagrams (all from landrover owners i must say... pah).
Well to be honest... we proved them all wrong! We were never
Found.
On.
Roadside.
Dead. and didnt need to be
Fixed.
Or.
Repaired.
Daily and she took everything that we threw at her and carried on with a smile!
The rally is 2000+ miles of on and off road travel across 6 countries in 11 days and includes things like dashing about and getting stuck in a sand quarry, trecherous off road centres (getting towed out was great fun!) and lots of green laning.
We have lots of pics and a bit more info on our website,
www.BigRallyChallenge.co.uk.
There is a blog and some info about me and the team and a bit about why we are doing what we do.
Have a look and see what you think. If you would like to know anything else, or think you may be up for the challenge next year then drop me a message and I'll fill you in a bit more.
Hope you enjoy... I know we did.
