weird check engine

Sup guys, last night i was coming back from the mountain and it was cold but not that much. My truck did some strange things when i tried to use the cruise control, the speed was fluctuatting and all, so i decided to turn the CC off. I drove for 15 minutes without any trouble, when suddenly, the truck had no more power. I was pressing on the gas pedal and the RPM didn't move at all and the CEL went on so i slowed down, put it in neutral (its a 4 speed std with OD) and started giving it gas and when i slowed down to maybe 50 km/h (i dont know if that as anything to do with it) the rpm started to respond so, i've put it back in gear and the CEL went off and it was fine. 5 minutes later same thing happened, and it did that about 4-5 times until it stalled. I slowed down and restart it while running put it in gear and then it was fine until i got home like 30 minutes away, no CEL. Do you guys have any idea what it could be? My first thought was a misfire or something like that but it's funny since after it stalled it ran fine. Thanks guys

could be there was some water in the gas , maybe add some isopropyl alcohol to the gas tank,

Where the CEL came on, the first thing I'd probably do would be to pull codes from the computer and see what problem the computer saw. There are threads in the Under the Hood and EEC-IV forums with instructions for pulling codes.
